A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as pardoning festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued from the start of the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently named “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Annually, we are proud to celebrate culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they celebrated the swine's new lease on life.
