Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside entertainer Finn, who appeared in iconic programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles this Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, per news outlets.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a message.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a party host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
