Fresh Particulars Come to Light About the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the tragic passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
The Initial Report
As detailed in an account referencing a family associate, a therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained without bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
Furthermore refuted circulated claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes descriptions of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the condition of their bodies suggested they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
