Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, however will the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, readers and a range of special visitors.
For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.
The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday football team," he said.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be fairly close, however. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.
West Ham's only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.
So, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.
A family member told me to select Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.
They have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.
But I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Considering Fulham's home form, the only side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
