Supporters Call for Detainment of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are urging that a person who jumped a barrier and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the performers walked down a promenade surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being detained", though court documents revealed that he was due to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
History of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Numerous followers criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others called for digital services to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande appeared startled when she was touched by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had assembled in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the well-known theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and earned ten Academy Award nods, winning a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
