The UK is ready to advance with using the total value of immobilized Russian assets to support Ukraine's war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the officials of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They added that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the US.

United Kingdom restrictions have immobilized over £25bn of Russian funds since the Russian government initiated its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, until now, resources sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had only been sourced from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to drive progress toward employing the full value of the seized Russia's state assets to end the war.

He stated that additional restrictions soon would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This declaration comes after European Union officials gathered in Copenhagen previously to debate utilizing immobilized Russia's funds for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or employ immobilized Russia's funds, as reported by media sources.

The worth of immobilized Russian assets in the EU is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

President Zelensky encourages UK's Sir Keir Starmer to participate in the weapons procurement programme

Moscow launched large-scale missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in power cuts in many areas of Kyiv, Kyiv, and several other zones.

Several persons were killed and no fewer than 20 people were hurt in the assault, the Ukrainian government stated.

In a post on X following the incident, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault targeted public and utility structures.

Also on Friday, Zelensky told the press he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the weapons procurement scheme, under which partner nations acquire military equipment from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the United Kingdom's firm backing for Kyiv, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the initiative, as well as impose further sanctions on Russia.
