Ways these Denver Broncos together with their malleable QB could halt the Kansas City Chiefs' dominance.

NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text for the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available through select stations covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the NFL season , after recent discussion regarding two top teams as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests was the number of infractions each conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments meaning they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this Sunday.

However it was good to see that Denver quarterback the rookie was able to overcome that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

Denver have the defensive player of the year with cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and Denver prevailed in that battle.

They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending extra pass rushers but they might position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a nickel from the outside.

At the start of the season, it was noted on a program that Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly and did a good job of building upon that.

Could Denver be this season's dark horses?

New TE their tight end has excelled big while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in positive situations.

This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to pass all over, however they don't move the mobility as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he is so athletic.

His assets include his mobility, being able to pass on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to make throws when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got great poise under pressure and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

If you constantly rush it consumes time and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and when you've got a mobile QB the defense has to cover the area downfield side to side. It can be draining.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and it seems Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. He can really build something up how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are having offensively is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they good enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this path.

They excel at leaning into their strength, which is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win a game.

Ever since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start following a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the division.

This hinges on which form Kansas City shows up they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
